eSIM installation guide
Most travel eSIMs are added before you leave, over stable Wi‑Fi. Activation often waits until the phone finds a supported network abroad.
Before travel
- Install the eSIM over stable Wi‑Fi at home — not on a rushed airport connection if you can avoid it.
- Do not delete the eSIM after it appears in SIM settings. For security reasons eSIMs are single-use; a new one is issued by MyEsimGlobal.
- Leave the travel eSIM’s data off until you arrive, unless the provider told you it should attach immediately.
- Activation generally starts when the eSIM connects to a supported local network.
During travel
- Select the travel eSIM for mobile data.
- Enable data roaming for that eSIM if the provider requires it (this is roaming on the eSIM’s partner networks, not your home SIM).
- Turn off mobile data on the primary / home SIM if you need to avoid home-operator roaming charges.
- Keep the home SIM enabled for calls/SMS if you still need them, or disable it if the operator would roam voice too.
QR vs one-tap
QR installation: open the camera or the carrier’s “Add eSIM” screen and scan the code from email or the store. One-tap / in-app installation (where a store offers it) sends the profile to the phone without scanning. Exact menus differ by iPhone, Samsung and Pixel — follow the provider’s short guide for your OS.
We do not document a specific carrier’s APN or 5G behaviour here.
How it works
Confirm the phone is eSIM-capable with the compatibility checker first.
FAQ
Should I install on the plane?
Wi‑Fi on board is often poor. Install at home when the code arrives.
What if I delete the eSIM by mistake?
For security reasons eSIMs are single-use. A new install is through MyEsimGlobal.
QR or one-tap?
Both add a profile. Menus differ by iPhone, Samsung and Pixel — follow the seller’s short OS guide.
